Available for Preorder: Courting Power

My latest novel, Courting Power, is now available for preorder. If you say, “Wait, Kal, this doesn’t look like your normal writing fare,” well, you’d be right.

Courting Power is a fantasy regency romance novel, the first in a complete 5 book series. Yes, complete, I’ve got all five books done and will release them every 3 months over the next year. This is one of several projects I’ve been working over the past couple of years. More on that later.

Courting Power is a fantasy setting where magic comes from the strength of the emotions of its wielders, and where lineage determines the type and starting strength of that power. It’s a world where the commonly held knowledge is that a married couple in love will have children with amplified powers. It is also a world teetering on the edge of tragedy, where the glittering heart of an empire shows all the luxury that magic and wealth can provide, but whose young men fight and die in alarming numbers against an implacable foe.

Courting Power, book one of the Regency of Aeliana, is now available for preorder. https://amzn.to/46EoAOH

Five daughters, one season, and fortunes, magic, and love at stake.

The five Priddington daughters have arrived for their Presentation, to win love and husbands in the Empire’s Capitol.  Descended from a powerful bloodline, each of them presents a prize, where a perfect marriage will increase the power of the happy couple… and one misstep within Society can mean ruin.

Miss Patricia Priddington would not be surprised if one of her sisters were so fortunate.  Only a rakish Prince seems to keep catching her when she falls.  As love blooms, however, the Queen seems to oppose their budding romance, another would-be suitor is found dead, and it seems that the Prince is the prime suspect.

What is a proper noblewoman to do except get to the bottom of things, hopefully without bringing down scandal upon her and her sisters?  Because while she is looking for a perfect match, others suspect that she is only courting power.
