Kal’s April 2021 Update

Hey everyone, we’re halfway through with April, but I’ve got some updates.

A Quiet Death, the sequel to In Death’s Shadow, is all done.  I’ll be dropping snippets and doing a cover reveal (and believe me, the cover is awesome) throughout the rest of the month.   The release date will be April 30th, so expect it soon!

I’m working on finishing The Star Engine, the seventh Shadow Space Chronicles book.  It’s been a long time since I last published in the series, but I’m really looking forward to getting this one out.  There are a lot of cool events happening there, plus it sets the ground for the future books in that universe.

Speaking of series that need more books, I’m looking to get out the fourth book of my epic fantasy series, the Eoriel Saga, in the near future.  I’m also outlining and prepping the next Children of Valor book, where I get to revisit Jiden Armstrong and see what she’s been up to while her brother has been having oh-so-much fun on Drakkus Prime.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!

Kal’s March 2021 Update

Hey everyone, it’s been quiet around here, and in a large part that’s been to a lot of things I’ve been struggling with, between work , family, writing, and the ongoing insanity of everything.

But I digress.  On the writing side of things, I’m trying to hit my stride again and I think I can feel comfortable making some early predictions on what I’ll have coming out soon.  I just did a “freshen up” of Renegades: Origins, where I went back through, cleaned up some issues, added an updated bibliography, and republished.  That’s feeding into talks I’m having with someone about re-releasing it as an audiobook.

I’m doing the same with the Shadow Space Chronicles, and those will be updated over the next month or so.  That’s part of me prepping to start writing in the series again.   If all goes well, The Star Engine will be coming out soon, and further books out over the next few months!

I’m finishing out A Quiet Death, the sequel to In Death’s Shadow.  I already have the cover done, so once I have it done and out to my readers, the only thing I’ll be waiting on is final edits.  That’s up first in the queue and I hope to have it out by the end of the month.

Lastly, I’ve been outlining the future of the Children of Valor series as well as the Forsaken Valor series and where those tie in together and just how I’ll write them.  There are plenty more stories coming there, so don’t worry, I’ll update here as I get closer to more releases in both series.

That’s all for now, thanks everyone for reading!

Kal’s May 2019 Forecast

Hey everyone, it’s been a bit of a crazy past few months, but I’m getting back into things and I should be on track again soon.  If you hadn’t seen, my father passed away recently and combined with some other family things, some work things, and some Army things, well, life has been a bit more hectic than usual.  I can’t say it’s getting any better in the near future, but I am adjusting and, well, there’s about as much good as (or more than) the bad.

So, anyway, what’s the rest of May hold in store?  Well, I’m hopeful to get Stolen Valor, the 2nd Forsaken Valor book, completed, edited, and published by the end of the month.  It’s a matter of completing it and getting it to my beta readers in time and I think that’s on track.

As I finish that off, I aim to do the same with the second Argonauts book, A Cold Day in Hades, which I need to finish, edit, and again, send to my beta readers.  From there, I’ll do my final edits and send it to Chris Kennedy Publishing.  My goal is to get that sent to them before the end of the month, as well.

What else, you ask?  Well, there’s quite a few projects I want to work, including a new one (gasp, I know, I have a lot of in-progress series).   But the next book I plan to publish is the last of the main-line Shadow Space Chronicles books, The Star Engine.

I know I won’t get it done before the end of the month, but it’s going to be coming in the next few months.  It’s a bit behind when I planned it, but I think it’ll be worth the wait, tying of the SSC storyline and setting things up for future series in that universe.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!

Kal’s January 2019 Forecast

So I’ve already posted a general outlook of what’s in store for me for the year.  What’s going on this month?  Well, I finished Jormungandr’s Venom, it’s off to the publisher soon and readers can expect it sometime around the end of the month (hopefully).  I’m making good progress on the fifth and final Children of Valor book: Valor’s Stand  and the plan is to have that one done this month.

Once I finish that, I can get back to work on the second book of the Argonauts in the 4HU.  My goal is to get that one done this month as well, and probably out to the publisher early next month.

So ideally there should be one book at the end of January with another one (possibly two) coming next month.  After I get both of those done, I’m going to start on the next Forsaken Valor book, which my goal is to finish in February.  If all goes well, I’ll finish that and then start on the seventh Shadow Space Chronicles book.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!

Kal’s November 2018 Forecast

It’s November already, jeez, where’d the month go?  October is come and gone and it’s been a busy month, with not just one, but two book releases.

I’m currently putting the final touches on Lost Valor, the first book of my spin-off YA series, Forsaken Valor, which ties directly into the Children of Valor series.  I’m also finishing off the last chapters on Jormungandr’s Venom, the third Rising Wolf book (The stories of Fenris, the AI controlled warship).  I plan to have those out this month, but I want to see what my beta readers have to say.

I’ve started on the sequel to The Colchis Job, which I’ve titled “A Cold Day in Hades.”  If things go well, I should have it done soon and off to the beta readers (man, they’re busy).

Last month I started my Patreon page and I’m adding more content.  I just added the full-length novel, The Eden Insurrection, which is remaining exclusive to Patrons.  As a reminder, if you want to have a character named for you, I pull names from Patrons first, so this is a good opportunity, plus it’s a way to help me focus on writing and producing more.  The link to my patreon page:  https://www.patreon.com/kalspriggs

What have I got planned for the rest of the month?  I’m writing the fifth and final Children of Valor book, Valor’s Stand.  I’m also back to closing out the seventh Shadow Space Chronicles book, The Star Engine (it was The Lost Heir).  I hope to have that one out by Christmas, but I’ve got a lot of work to do to get there.

So, I’m hoping that November is a two-book publishing month.  If I can pull it off, you can expect Lost Valor mid-November and Jormungandr’s Venom sometime after that (though that’s up to the publisher).  If I can meet my writing goals this month, it’ll make December a two book month, too.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!

Kal’s October Forecast

Hey everyone, October is here!  I’ve got a lot on my plate right now, so here’s what you can expect:

I’m happy to announce that I plan to release the first book from my post-apocalyptic series, Dead Train: All Aboard.  This series follows the adventures of a group of survivors in a zombie apocalypse, who are travelling by train as they seek safety.  You can expect Dead Train: All Aboard on October 12th.

I’m currently mostly done with my latest work in progress, which is titled Lost Valor.  Lost Valor is the first book of the spin-off series Forsaken Valor, which is a spin-off of the Children of Valor series.  Those of you who read Valor’s Cost can probably guess the identity of the main character.  My goal is to finish it up and publish it 26 October.  I’m really excited to get this one out, because it’s a very different story-line and set of experiences from the Children of Valor series but just as action-packed.  I’m hoping you all will enjoy it just as much as I have writing it.

Finishing off the month, I’m putting the finishing touches on book three of the Rising Wolf series.  Yes, I’m finally getting back to Melanie and Fenris.  This third book closes out the initial story arc and brings their initial arc to a close.

What I’m working towards with all three of these series (Children of Valor, Forsaken Valor, and Rising Wolf) is to set the stage for the greater conflict that’s been brewing in the Periphery.  I hope to tie all three series to a close and then start a series I’m currently labeling The Colonial War, which will cover a greater conflict involving Drakkus, the Star Guard, Century and other systems.  That in turn sets the stage for more events yet to come.  Suffice it to say, there’s lots of exploding space-ships in the future of the Star Portal Universe.

Closing out October, I plan to start the second Argos book, the sequel to The Colchis Job, to be published with Chris Kennedy Publishing.  I expect to finish it sometime in November, so ideally you can expect it late November to early December.  After that, it’s the fifth book of the Children of Valor series and the second book of Forsaken Valor.  I’ve got a very full plate at the moment, but I also intend to get the seventh book of the Shadow Space Chronicles out as well as to finish the fourth book of the Eoriel Saga.

Did I mention I’ve got a lot on my plate?

Kal’s August 2018 Forecast

Hey everyone, it’s August.  Just last Friday I had my latest book, The Colchis Job, come out.  It’s already at 21 reviews (as of a few minutes ago, anyway) and I’m stoked by the feedback.  If you haven’t checked it out, give it a look!  https://amzn.to/2AIUnBM

What else am I working on?  Well, I’m getting the fourth Children of Valor book ready for publishing at the end of the month.  Valor’s Cost has been a lot of fun to write and I think my readers are really going to enjoy it.  I’m going to be releasing it during Dragon Con and I’m even going to do my best to have copies of the paperback with me when I get there.

I’ve finished outlining a couple of books as well, including the first book of the spin-off YA series.  Since it ties into Valor’s Cost, I want it ready to go by the end of September, which means I have to have it done by the end of this month.

My next project after that is completing my zombie series so I’ll have a full trilogy for release starting in October.  Those books have been intense to write and if you’re a fan of the zombie genre (or for that matter if you think most people in zombie stories are morons) then you’ll like this series.  I already have the first book done and I’ve outlined books 2 & 3, so come September I’ll start cranking out the words.  I’ve also started the outline for the next Argonauts book for Chris Kennedy Publishing.  So as you can imagine, I’ve got a lot on my plate!

Way out on the horizon I’ve got quite a few other projects.  The fifth Children of Valor book I aim to have out in November, with the second YA spin-off due in December.   As I get more time, I’m also going to finish the 7th Shadow Space Chronicles book and return to the Renegades, Fenris Unchained, and the Eoriel Saga.

That’s all for now, and thanks for reading!

How do you know right from wrong if every memory, every thought in your head was put there by your enemies?

In a near-future, when humanity has begun to spread throughout the stars.  In the process, they’ve awakened abilities hidden within their own DNA.  Psychics have begun to appear at ever-increasing rates with abilities that range from mental manipulation to mass destruction and beyond.  Empowered by public hysteria and fear of psychics, Amalgamated Worlds has taken over.  Their powerful combination of military and security forces, control of media and communications, and manipulation of internal threats has created a police state that spans all of human space.

Shaden Kirroy is a product of that police state.  Designed to be a weapon for use against his fellow psychics as well as any civilians who step out of line, he is an artificially enhanced psychic.  He is a blank slate, his past erased and replaced with engineered loyalty to Amalgamated Worlds.

Yet Shaden realizes that something is terribly wrong.  As his world begins to unravel, as he realizes the horrors of what was done to him, Shaden must find a way to free himself, to unlock the prison of his own mind.

New Covers!

Hey everyone!  I’m happy to announce that I have finally had time to upload the new covers for the early books of the Shadow Space Chronicles.  The Fallen Race, The Shattered Empire, The Prodigal Emperor, and The Sacred Stars all have new cover art from the fantastic David C Simon.  Layout and such is done by Robert  Brockman.

These covers are live on both print and ebooks and will soon be live on the audiobook versions.  I would love to hear your thoughts on which one is your favorite.  Of the four, I have to say I really like the cover for The Sacred Stars, but let me know what you think!

Here are the new covers

Kal’s December 2017 Forecast

Hey everyone, it’s December, already, and I’m doing my best to finish off Jormungandr’s Venom, the third book three of the Rising Wolf series.

I’ve already outlined the third Children of Valor book and I’ll plan to start on that by the 15th.  I’m really excited to get back to working on that series and my goal is to bring it out in late January.

Posts have been infrequent around here, but that’s mostly because I’ve been really, really busy.  Some of that has been writing, but let’s just say that it’s been a rough year.  I may do a post on that later.  I may not, we’ll see.

After the third Children of Valor book and Jormungandr’s Venom, I’ve got a new project I’ll be working on, then back to writing in my ongoing series.  I’ve got lots of plans for the Renegades series and the conclusion of this story arc of the Shadow Space Chronicles.

That’s all for now, check in for more updates over the next few days!
