The Sacred Stars, book four of the Shadow Space Chronicles, is coming soon! You can expect it in early September (probably just after labor day).
You can never go home.
Alannis Giovanni has followed in her family’s footsteps and joined the United Colonies Fleet. As a bare Ensign, she’s been assigned to the Fleet’s newest, most powerful cruiser, the Constellation, on it’s maiden voyage: a simple show-the-flag mission that should be good for her to learn what it is to be an officer.
But things are never simple. At their most distant port, they come across allies in need. The Ghornath species are in search of their origins and an array of enemies are trying to stop them. The crew of the Constellation will have to face pirates, aliens, and uncover a ten thousand-year-old secret in order not just to save their allies, but to thwart a threat that might well catch the rest of the Fleet off-guard.
These battles will test Alannis, force her to grow and become the officer that her position and blood demand of her… yet the greatest threat may be one she is the least prepared to face.
Well, September is here, fall is in the air, and Kal is currently hunched over a computer. The good news is that I’m almost finished with The Shattered Empire and should have it done in the next few days. The bad news is that I’m not yet done, which means the publishing date will most likely be bumped back to mid to late October. Part of this is due to a heavy workload and parenthood, part of it is due to The Shattered Empire being a much larger book than The Fallen Race.
As soon as The Shattered Empire’s first draft is done, I’ll be sending it out to my alpha readers. Right after that, I’m starting work on a couple of short stories and then going to work on the sequel to Echo of the High Kings: Wrath of the Usurper. My goal is to have that one finished this year and published early next year. Along the way I’ve got to finish the YA book, the Steampunk book, and work on a submission to a publisher.
So my forecast for September is writing, writing, and more writing… hopefully with a side of writing.
Well, it’s not much of a post, but I’ve unlocked a new parenting/writing achievement. This seems to be the only position the little fellow was comfortable enough to sleep. Something tells me he’s going to be a handful.
In other news, progress is continuing on writing of The Shattered Empire, the second book of the Shadow Space Chronicles, and it’s still on track for release in the fall. Echo of the High Kings is looking good to be released at the start of August. If all goes to plan (or at least relatively close to plan) I should have the third book of the Shadow Space Chronicles available by early 2015 and the sequel to Echo of the High Kings around the same time.
